Marty had a significant role in my banking career in his HR position at Continental Illinois Bank in Chicago. We had many visits between classes at night law school at Loyola. I must have known then we had shared Viet Nam time ( I was in Da Nang 7/67-7/68 ) But his time was more rigorous, whole I was in Navy supply to keep him in ammo, food, and beer.

My best to his family.

I believe Marty and I attended Law school together at Loyola of Chicago. I also thought he was working at Continental Bank in the Personel Dept. He was a big help to me in a tricky transition move from Trust to Commercial Banking at Continental. Great guy.

I served with Captain Farmer in Vietnam with great pride for many days in combat. I was with him the day he and I and four others in the command group were wounded by the same mortar round. He was a leader and a good person, and I am sorry for his family's loss.

Marty, you were an exceptional person and you had more impact on some of us than you realized. Mary will miss you the most but the "Hogs" will always remember you.

Working with Marty at The First National Bank of Chicago was always a pleasure and a privilege. He played a major role in bringing to an end the mistaken Illinois ban on all branch banking. He deserves a lot of credit for the present day customer convenience of bank branches in every Illinois community.
