I served with Captain Farmer in Vietnam with great pride for many days in combat. I was with him the day he and I and four others in the command group were wounded by the same mortar round. He was a leader and a good person, and I am sorry for his family's loss.

Marty, you were an exceptional person and you had more impact on some of us than you realized. Mary will miss you the most but the "Hogs" will always remember you.

Working with Marty at The First National Bank of Chicago was always a pleasure and a privilege. He played a major role in bringing to an end the mistaken Illinois ban on all branch banking. He deserves a lot of credit for the present day customer convenience of bank branches in every Illinois community.
