Tribute & Message From The Family

HESSLING - MILLER, Sharon M. Beloved mother of Thomas (Beth) Miller. Devoted grandmother of Kayla Barrier and ( Wes and Ava). Dear sister of Ted (Angie) Hessling, Kathy (Jim) Redmond, Tim (Jody) Hessling, Steve (Patty) Hessling, Linda (Jerry) Vitucci and Barb (Chris) Fortman. Also surrounded by many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Sharon had many jobs, notably at Cincinnati Public Schools as a secretary for 30 years, but also at the movie theater in Western Hills selling tickets. We all remember Sharon for her sense of giving and most of all her sense of humor! She fought the battle against ALS but at no point did she let that get in her way of making us laugh or doing things and going places. She traveled on her own to Canada to see her friend Les and went with family to Gatlinburg and to see the lights of Vegas! Her fight with ALS came to an end surrounded by loved ones on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 60 years of age. Visitation at MEYER FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Bridgetown Rd., on WEDNESDAY from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Martin of Tours, 3633 Glenmore Ave., on THURSDAY at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the ALS Association, 1170 Old Henderson Road, Suite 221, Columbus, Ohio 43220.

Condolence & Memory Journal

I met Sharon as a classmate and her smile was contagious. Sharon had a kind heart and never made someone feel inferior. I will always remember how she would pass by and say hello and if needed would give you a hug. She will always be missed, however will always be remembered as a kind, loving and giving person. Rest dear angel.

Sharon and i worked side by side, daily for 3 years at Cheviot School. We never, ever had a bad day, and that was because of her nature. Her suffering throughout her life was so unfair to such a kund and gentle soul. The world has lost a rare, courageous and funny lady. Rest, finally, in Peace, Sharon. Love you...

I attended grade school at Our lady of the Visitation with Sharon. If not for Facebook we would not have reconnected. It was good to be able to talk to her there. She had a great sense of humor especially considering her condition. Sharon was one strong soul and will be missed by many. Rest in peace, Sharon.

I had the privilege of working with Sharon for a few short years at the Facilities Department office. She has taught us how to fight such a terrible disease with amazing courage and grace. My deepest sympathy to her family, friends and loved ones for your loss.

I will always remember Sharon as the happiest, friendliest and most helpful secretary that ever graced the halls of Walnut Hills High School. She was missed when she moved on from us, and she is missed even more now.

I can still see Sharon in first grade at Our Lady of the Visitation with her pale blonde hair and always jolly all the way up until the last time I saw her 1.5 years ago when she personally arranged a meetup with some of us Mercy grads when I came in town to visit my family. What a special person she was. I will miss her, but I am so happy that she is at peace and truly living once more.

I will always remember Sharon for her strong will, love for family and friends. I don't think Sharon ever met a stranger, she was a very giving and loving person and always had a smile for any and all. I am a classmate of Sharon, Mother of Mercy Class of 1974. Thanks to Sharon we had a great 40th reunion. I will miss her but I can rejoice in knowing she is dancing with the angels, and getting hugs from the Lord, for a race well done. Keeping all of her champions in my prayers for peace during this time. Go rest high on that mountain, Sharon!!!!

Sharon, your my hero. Throughout this journey you kept that smile. You lived to your fullest. You are a testament to what a wonderful, true to life person should be. Your now in the arms of our Lord, home with no more pain, but still here with us in spirit. Rest In Peace sweet angel and we will meet again.

Dear Hessling Family,
Sharon was a friend from our days of riding the school bus to Our Lady of Visitation 1st through the 8th grade and then again to Mother of Mercy. Sharon was always kind and caring. We shared names and our sisters names. Kathy Moore Kaeser and I were so sad to hear about your passing. You fought the good fight with humor and faith. Rest in peace.
