Condolence & Memory Journal

Hello,

I am Ken"s classmate from the Illinois College of Optometry. He was great guy back in Optometry school as well. Even though I have not seen him since graduation, I thought of him often. Just last week I was telling my wife about him. I remember the fun times we used to have. He was warm, engaging and quite convivial. It was an honor to have met and known such a man for our years at Optometry school.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gerard Prchal Orland Park, Illinois

I am so sad to hear about Dr. Schroer's passing. I had a visit with him in the past few months and just had a normal conversation. He was like that, very personable and made you feel at home during your visits. He was truly an amazing person. This is a tremendous loss. I am sending prayers up for his loved ones.

I am so saddened to hear of Dr. Kenneth Schroer's passing. He has been our family Ophthalmologist for many years. It was always a pleasure to speak to him during my appointments. He was always kind, considerate and caring. I have been also been a patient of Dr. Melissa Schroer for nearly 25 years. I have come to know both of them and their family though all those years of visits when we have shared the joys, concerns. celebrations and milestones of our lives. I am grateful to have had this association with them. They feel like a part of my extended family and my heart is breaking right now. My deepest condolences, sympathy, and prayers go out to Melissa, Tim, Matthew and the rest of the family. He will truly be missed.

Melissa and Family-
I am so sorry to learn that Ken passed away. Truly a wonderful person! And he loved His family more than anything on this earth. I was first your neighbor and then became Ken's patient. We had some wonderful conversations out in the front yard and during my eye exams. Ken was such down to earth guy and someone you could sit and talk with for hours-like a brother! I wish I could have seen him one more time. (Having moved away almost 10 years ago and living in Liberty now I did not continue as his patient) I hope to see him again when the Lord Jesus calls me home. I know you must miss him terribly. I am praying for you.

My most sincere condolences to the entire Schroer family. My heart is broken over your loss. Ken (Kenny) was my first friend on Cassandra Ct. He taught me how to ride a bike and gave me the confidence to ride down the "big hill" on Cassandra.
We played Kick the Can, traded baseball cards and once when we were 5ish, we covered ourselves in mud after a rain storm. We received quite the scolding from either Tom or Terry.
He was a sweet, caring man with a wonderful sense of humor. I will miss him and he will always hold a special place in my heart.
Much love to all of you,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Ken was a very kind man. I enjoyed talking with him when he would shop at Remke when it was still open. He would always say Hello to me by name when I was in your waiting room and he would be walking into his office. Such a kind man. You and your boys are lifted up in my prayers for strength during this difficult time.

Doctor Schroer was my eye doctor. When I was pregnant last year, he told me that you know your parents love you, but you don't understand just how much they love you until you have your own kids to love. That stuck with me. Such a kind man. My deepest condolences to the Schroer family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ken 20 years ago when I first called on Melissa. Going to their office was always the best part of my day because I got to see both of them :) Ken was one the kindest souls I have ever met in my life. Even when he was busy, he would take the time to say hi, welcome me with a big smile & hug and wanted to know how I was doing. That is how I will remember Ken, someone that treated me like family and touched the lives of so many. We are all better for knowing Ken. Heaven just added an angel and I know he is looking down on us with all the kindness in the his big heart.

Sending my love and prayers to Melissa, their boys and your entire family,

My deepest condolences to your family! I was a patient of Dr. Ken Schroer. I know his patients will miss him dearly!! I loved going to see him, he always had such a great attitude and was such a kind person. Dr. Schroer saved my mom's eyesight by finding something of concern in one of her eyes so he sent her to a retina specialist. Had he not seen this in mom's eye, she would be blind in that eye today. My entire family loved him and will truly miss him!!! Karen McPeak, Erika McPeak, Angela Murphy, Hailee Murphy, Emily Murphy, Patrick Murphy
