Mary touched so many lives! She will be missed and remembered…for her countless creative gifts, her deep love of nature, music and books, her irrepressible Irish wit, her warm heart and her magical smile.

Ball, Jr. M.D., and her sister, Patricia Ball Powers and her brother-in-law, Thomas H. Powers, M.D. Surviving are her brother Jim (Achana Ball, M.D.), and her sister, Judy. In addition, Mary leaves her sister-in-law Gretchen Ball; nephew Tim (Karen) Ball; nieces Therese Ball, Kate (Fernando) Marcilla, Margaret (Steve) Henkel, Julie (Dondee) Canos, Molly (Nevin) Ward, Sarah (Rob) Slater; as well as many great-nieces and -nephews.
After graduating from the College of Mt. She spent six years in religious life as a Sister of Mary Reparatrix. In her 40s she entered a new field, earning an MSW degree from the University of Kentucky. She was instrumental in creating the first hospital outpatient chemical dependency program at Bethesda Hospital.
